Not a game issue, but what the hell...? Does someone know more about this? http://www.rigsofrods.com/threads/120914-Forum-changes Also, the main page is ruined (video and text gone) including the link to the download. EDIT by Hiradur: The website is currently changing hands and will resume full operation soon |
commented Feb 22, 2016
We don't know yet but if somebody would like to play multiplayer right now here is the server list (the master server is unreachable)
|
commented Feb 22, 2016
I think it would be nice if tdev let us know before the update, the shutdown of servers (something like one week or a few days). |
commented Feb 22, 2016
Ok I think this is BS ror was on a rise for the first time in like 12 months......
|
commented Feb 22, 2016
Seems that the forum doesn't exist anymore, is there anyone that has a backup solution? |
commented Feb 22, 2016
I dont know D: |
commented Feb 22, 2016
the closer of discussion points on Beamng is childish as hell. |
commented Feb 22, 2016
Well this is saddening. All the hard work by everyone who was still left on that forum will never be seen ever again. R.I.P. RoR forums, you will truly be missed. |
commented Feb 22, 2016
Now they are restoring a copy and nadeox1 said don't blame tdev without the whole story.... all we want is the whole story |
commented Feb 22, 2016
This is getting really interesting... |
commented Feb 22, 2016
^^ That it is |
commented Feb 22, 2016
You know, money.... |
commented Feb 22, 2016
So what exactly is going on? The forum was tooken down because no activity? and now its being restored from backup? for how long before its tooken down for ever? is anyone thinking of making a backup forum? Say like proboards etc? Is development still going to go on as normal, even if the forum disappears? |
commented Feb 22, 2016
Also what exactly was stated in the 'forum changes' thread before the forum went off line? Sorry I didn't catch it soon enough. |
commented Feb 22, 2016
@UCDHIUS If this becomes more permanent, I might use my unused webspace for (attachment-less) forums... But nothing will be able to replace the real thing. ='( |
commented Feb 22, 2016
@willkgr76 Saw that, anyone have screenshots of that thread on the forum? |
commented Feb 22, 2016
@UCDHIUS Oh, ok. No screenshots :( |
commented Feb 22, 2016
We should start up a free forum, (proboards or the like for backup) just so we can have discussions with on going development. |
commented Feb 22, 2016
Yes, it won't be the real thing, but at least it will keep the remaining RoR players and Dev team 'connected' as a communication hub. |
commented Feb 22, 2016
@UCDHIUS Yes, certainly :) |
commented Feb 22, 2016
@wilkgr76 Thanks, let me know when its setup. |
commented Feb 23, 2016
As long as it can serve as a back up, basic text/thread posting should be fine. Sorry I am not forum software savy lol. |
commented Feb 23, 2016
@UCDHIUS Up - http://wilkgr.altervista.org/RoR/index.php |
commented Feb 23, 2016
@wilkgr76 I'm registered |
commented Feb 23, 2016
@wilkgr76 for some reason when I was making a post the language changed? Thanks |
commented Feb 23, 2016
@wilkgr76 I was like oh my, what happened lol. |
commented Feb 23, 2016
@wilkgr76 no I cannot LOL, I was like did I mess with my settings or something.. |
commented Feb 23, 2016
@wilkgr76 ill be sending you a PM though the forum shortly. |
commented Feb 23, 2016
@UCDHIUS I deleted the discussion from here as it doesn't help in any way. |

UPDATE: 'Hello everybody, this is only_a_ptr writing. Things got settled with TDev, the server is being restored from today's backup, so nothing will get lost. Stay tuned and be patient, things are going to be back to normal tomorrow. Don't stay up late though, the backup will take a few more hours. Cheers.' |
commented Feb 23, 2016
Well that is good thank you ptr |
commented Feb 29, 2016
@only-a-ptr since you have root access wouldn't it be possible to restrict access to rigsofrods.com to your ip address? |
commented Mar 1, 2016
@mikadou Technically yes, but there's no way I'm going to tamper with it - that probably wouldn't end well. TDev actually extended the server's self-destruct countdown to 31. of March, so there's plenty of time to download everything. |
commented Mar 1, 2016
@only-a-ptr if sometning won't end well it's best not to risk it ;) |
commented Mar 1, 2016
@only-a-ptr it isn't that difficult to do, just create a .htaccess file in the root of the server with these contents: |
commented Mar 1, 2016
Keep in mind that the ip changes daily for most consumer connections, don't lock yourself out. |
commented Mar 1, 2016
@AnotherFoxGuy I know how it's done, but I just won't do it, there's always something to go wrong. Further I can't restrict access at root level, TDev's using (or was using) the server for other things. Finally, I don't want to cause another 'RoR's dying!!!' panic. It's bad enough like this |
commented Mar 2, 2016
Are the services down again or is it just me? |
commented Mar 2, 2016
@Dogy144 Just went back up again. |
commented Mar 2, 2016
@tdev or @only-a-ptr I got curious a week ago and did this http://vps.elitediamond.net/rigsofrods/serverlist/serverlist.html But I want to make a full page one like the one that had the names of the users on each server and the IP like the chart with the server list on the old forum. But I don't have the HTML/php or whatever it is to do it. All I have is that code from the Api |
commented Mar 3, 2016
@chris7676 First we'll get a new server, then we'll restore the serverlist. Be patient. |
commented Mar 3, 2016
Ok. |
commented Mar 6, 2016
Latest progress on copying the old forum: Text is done everywhere except 'screenshots-videos', attachment images/files are in progress... |
commented Mar 8, 2016
It would be great if maps and cars are stored in a git repo now, so we make sure they never dissapear again, right? |
commented Mar 8, 2016
They are too big in file size for a git repo (the content from the repo alone is more than 20gb) and there is also the issue of copyright. |
commented Mar 8, 2016
I see. Damn, I just got the game to work today, just to find out I can't do much with it. I found some cars in other webs, but no terrains. :'( |
commented Mar 10, 2016
@rredesigns Here is the official high quality pack including vehicles and terrains: https://www.dropbox.com/s/htlis7fw5fndkxi/pack_highquality04.zip |
commented Mar 10, 2016
Wow!!. Downloading right now, thank you very much!. :D |
commented Mar 10, 2016
I've mirrored the two content packs for 0.4.x here: I can put up a copy of the raw repository files, too, if someone needs it. |
commented Mar 11, 2016
What is the difference between the 'official pack', and the content packs? Which should I use? |
commented Mar 11, 2016
The pack posted by Hiradur is the same as pack_highquality. The other one contains less vehicles, but is much smaller for slower connections. |
commented Mar 11, 2016
I see. Yeah, the previous was huge. Thanks a lot, I know it took you a big while to upload those. :D |
commented Mar 11, 2016
Note that the content pack is included in the high quality pack. |
commented Apr 10, 2016
Is there any word on how long it will take? |

commented Jun 23, 2016
Hey, probably breaking a rule by bumping but what the hell happened? After may people just stopped caring? I don't get it and I really don't want to see this game dead in the bottom of a river with a cinder block attached to it's leg. |

Closing since the new website is now live at http://rigsofrods.org @neffam3 The website was handed over from tdev to only_a_ptr, the new project leader. Because the old website had security flaws it's been reworked from scratch which is why it took so long. |

This simulation game provides you with several modes of transport such as trucks, planes, boats, cars that can react to the roughness of the different terrain. Based on the Beam physics engine, it offers quality graphics, real-life animations and an open environment for a very enjoyable freedom of play.
